Emerald Coast Growers is debuting a new grass for 2010: miscanthus 'Gold Breeze.'

Featuring many of the same characteristics as its cousin 'Gold Bar,' this selection from Joy Creek Nursery grows taller with more striking green-and-gold banding.

"'Gold Breeze' shines for its beautiful banding and cascading foliage," says Cheri Markowitz, Emerald Coast Growers' sales manager. "It will be a standout in any ornamental grass program."

Miscanthus 'Gold Breeze' has an upright, clump-forming habit, growing 5 to 7 feet tall. Shades of gold and a silvery tassel appear with autumn and grace foliage throughout winter. 'Gold Breeze' is excellent as a specimen or backdrop plant. It prefers full sun and is hardy in Zones 5-9.

Does miscanthus thrive indoors? We have a solarium with a 10'x12' skylight overhead, and would like to plant grasses in it, but don't know if this plant needs a cold spell. Any advice would be welcome. The height and coloring of this looks perfect.
