Growers interested in applying for a USDA energy grant this year must have their applications to the appropriate USDA Rural Development State Office by July 31.

May 27, 2009

Growers interested in applying for a USDA energy grant this year must have their applications to the appropriate USDA Rural Development State Office by July 31.

Growers are urged to submit their energy project's application at the earliest opportunity because eligible high-scoring projects may qualify to be funded before July 31. Priority consideration is being given to projects requesting less than $20,000.

The maximum USDA grant amounts are the same as previous years: $250,000 for energy-efficiency improvement projects and $500,000 for renewable energy projects. Grant requests cannot exceed 25 percent of the project's eligible costs.

The limit for loan guarantees has been raised to $25 million. Loan requests of $600,000 or less are eligible to receive a loan guarantee of up to 85 percent.

The Federal Register announcement is available here.
