February 18, 2010

A Dutch investment company, H2 Equity Partners will acquire Kirin Agribio Company - collectively called the Agribio Group - from Japan's Kirin Holdings Company. The Agribio Group owns the flower breeder Fides.

H2 has signed the purchase agreement and expects to close the deal in March. It has plans to expand the breeding business with the introduction of new varieties and add-on acquisitions in the coming years.

"We see exciting opportunities, given the current market dynamics", says Peter Kroeze partner of H2. "We seized the opportunity to acquire Agribio Group as it is a knowledge intensive breeder that is very well positioned to unlock the full potential that this business offers. Together with management we will actively pursue product development, strategic partnerships and add-on acquisitions."

Fides' headquarters are in The Netherlands.
