Hort Couture Adds Orchid Line To The Mix
Hort Couture has added a line of orchids to its Tres Chic Tropical Collection.
October 20, 2009
Six orchids are joining Hort Couture's Tres Chic Tropical Collection. New varieties among the Patio & Garden Orchids are:
- 'Sweet Sangria' (purple)
- 'Mai Tai' (lavender)
- 'Pina Colada' (white)
- 'Banana Daiquiri (yellow)
- 'Tequila Sunrise' (purple and light yellow)
- 'Cosmopolitan Mix' (purple flowers with white and light yellow banding)
Orchids can be used in pots or planters for all summer color in combination with flowering and accent annuals. The orchids are most suitable to Zones 9-10, and Hort Couture recommends using them as a "thriller" or "filler" for mixed containers.
Ideal accent plants for the six orchids are: ipomoea, lantana, coleus, musa, alocasia, colocasia, cordyline, alternanthera and verbena. The orchids grow anywhere between 18 and 24 inches, although 'Banana Daiquiri' is the tallest at about 24 inches. All six prefer full to part sun.
