Oscar Hasegawa, an accomplished plant breeder at California Florida Plant Company who held patents for chrysanthemums and carnations, died January 11. Public services will be held at the nursery this Friday, Feb. 4 at 11 a.m. PT.

Hasegawa started his career as a trainee in the early 1970s at Nakano Nursery in Mountain View, Calif. In 1976, he began working for the Cal Florida Plant Company in Fremont, Calif. Hasegawa held various positions at Cal Florida, including maintenance manager, plant breeder, general manager and partner.
