Baptisia australis is the Perennial Plant Association's (PPA) 2010 Perennial Plant of the Year.

Baptisia carries the common names blue false indigo, wild indigo and baptisia. Less commonly occurring names are indigo weed, rattleweed and rattlebrush.

Baptisia thrives in full sun. Plants grown in partial shade may require staking. This hardy perennial grows 3 to 4 feet tall and wide with an upright habit. It's recommended to anchor the back of borders.

For more information on the PPA, visit its website at PerennialPlant.org.

this is a truly awesome plant! It's a hard sell to customers unless you have a mature specimen planted and on display. Has anyone had success (flowering) in nursery production? If so, how? Or should I say, how many years?
