OHP Introduces Granular Marengo Formulation
OHP Inc. has followed up the launch of its Marengo liquid pre-emergent herbicide with the introduction of Marengo G, a granular formulation with the same effective active ingredient, indaziflam. Marengo G offers production ornamental growers many of the same features as Marengo SC including consistent plant safety, broad-spectrum weed control and long-term residual. The Marengo G label allows for application to containers in nurseries, and hoop and shade houses. “We’re pleased to introduce a granular version of Marengo to the market after the successful launch of Marengo liquid,” says Terry Higgins, OHP vice president and general manager. “Marengo G features all the benefits of indaziflam in an easy-to-apply granular formulation for over-the-top applications.” Marengo G offers effective, long-term selective pre-emergent control of both broadleaf and grassy weeds with little effect on desirable plant species. The product does not volatilize and does not move in soil once watered-in after application. “With […]

Hermann Engelmann Greenhouses Reaches Out To Consumers With Merchandising, Web Presence And Social Media
Do you grow foliage and houseplants? If not, it might be time to consider it. In a recent Today’s Garden Center magazine survey, of those garden retailers who carry houseplants, 54.3 percent report an increase in sales in 2013. Hermann Engelmann Greenhouses reports good news, as well, with a 5 percent increase within the foliage segment in the past year. So how does the operation plan to keep the good times rolling? The formula for this grower includes marketing directly to the consumer through in-store materials, a loaded website and an active social media presence. But the message being broadcast through all these media is the same — to inspire the customer to create home décor designs and to educate with plant care tips that will turn timid gardeners into experts. “We want to transition our product from a commodity item to a home décor item,” says Erin Leonard, director […]

Growing Innovations Geared to Connect Specialty Ag With…
Innovation abounds in agriculture, yet it can feel sometimes as if the gap between exciting new developments and what growers actually need in their operations can be awfully wide. We at Meister Media Worldwide intend to help narrow this gap. Which is why we’re pleased to introduce Growing Innovations – an altogether new type of event that will debut Nov. 7-8 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. Unlike most agricultural events and trade shows, Growing Innovations is not about technology per se, nor is it about everyday issues that growers face. Instead, this new conference and tradeshow is very acutely solutions oriented. It takes as its starting point specialty crop growers’ most pressing real-world challenges – production efficiency, labor and water shortages, logistics, and data management to name just a few – and showcases advances, both current and up-and-coming, that have the greatest potential to bring […]
