I applaud companies like the one I work with that take the lead in changing ways plants are produced that greatly lessen the impact of our activity on the environment without sacrificing quality or profit. GRO-ECo uses 85 percent less water to produce plants. It has zero irrigation waste and uses much less fertilizer and pesticides in the process. It is recognized by the Florida Department of Agriculture as the 007 environmental leadership award winner. And it is rapidly expanding production even in an economic downturn.
We need to embrace the challenge of growing our industry for the future without this mentality that we have to give something up to do it. The minds are out there to develop technology that improves our ability to produce green for a world that greatly needs it. Mark is looking at sustainability vs. survivability. I think it's one in the same.
