2014 American Garden Award Contest Voting Is Now Open To Public

American Garden Award (AGA) is inviting the public to vote now in its 2014 contest. Thirty-two prestigious public gardens are participating in the nation’s only flower popularity contest — the Southern gardens have the flowers planted and are ready to show them off, and the Northern gardens will do so as Mother Nature allows.

The American Garden Award is a unique opportunity for the horticulture industry as well as the general public to view, choose and vote on a specific flower that they think has the most appealing garden characteristics. Garden retailers are encouraged to promote these varieties and this contest in their own stores.

Anyone can go online to vote now, then visit the gardens later in the season to see the flowers in person and vote again. Vote now by going to Americangardenaward.com and clicking on the appropriate button to vote for your favorite flower.

The four entries are:

  • Celosia ‘Arrabona Red’ from PanAmerican Seed
  • Cuphea ‘Sirracha Violet’ from Syngenta Flowers
  • Foxglove Digiplexis ‘Illumination Flame’ from Cultivaris
  • Petunia ‘Sanguna Radiant Blue’ from Syngenta Flowers

Voting is open now through Sept. 30 and winners will be announced in October. In the meantime, these flowers, as well as some of the past American Garden Award winners, are available at garden centers nationwide. The 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 winners can be viewed at Americangardenaward.com.
