America In Bloom (AIB) is a grassroots industry promotion that connects people with plants by engaging communities of all sizes in a national competition. For seven years, AIB has engaged 165 communities in seven states. AIB judges visit the communities and evaluate their efforts in eight criteria–floral displays, landscaped areas, urban forestry, turf and groundcover areas, environmental awareness, tidiness, heritage preservation and community involvement. For these towns, AIB has been a wonderful revitalization program that blooms for years after it is planted. The best way to revitalize your markets is to act locally.
