Have Fun And Support A Great Cause

On Saturday morning, Dramm will host its ninth annual Dramm 5K Relay for Floriculture at Goodale Park, a few blocks northwest of the Columbus Convention Center. You can run on a relay team of four or walk. Registration is $40 for individuals and $160 for teams. Check-in begins at 6 a.m., and the race starts at 7 a.m.

On Monday evening, D.S. Cole Growers will host its eighth annual Hockey In Columbus event at The Dispatch Ice Haus at Nationwide Arena, the practice rink for the Columbus Blue Jackets. This is a no-check, no-slap-shot event with referees. Men and women of all skill levels are welcome. Players must bring their own hockey equipment. The fee for individual players is $60. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the game starts at 7.

Also on Monday, Greenhouse Grower will host the drawing of three raffle tickets for big prizes during our Medal of Excellence awards reception at the convention center. Tickets are $100. Three prizes will be drawn–$500, $1,000 and $5,000. Participants do not need to be present to win.

America In Bloom (AIB) is a grassroots industry promotion that connects people with plants by engaging communities of all sizes in a national competition. For seven years, AIB has engaged 165 communities in seven states. AIB judges visit the communities and evaluate their efforts in eight criteria–floral displays, landscaped areas, urban forestry, turf and groundcover areas, environmental awareness, tidiness, heritage preservation and community involvement. For these towns, AIB has been a wonderful revitalization program that blooms for years after it is planted. The best way to revitalize your markets is to act locally.
