Seattle Signs Up For AIB

The city of Seattle has signed up for this year’s America In Bloom competition. The point person behind the entry is Linden Mead, an arboriculturist with SDOT Urban Forestry.

As of today, 21 cities have registered, 13 of which are completely new to the community revitalization program and competition. We expect many veterans to return. Deadline to register is Feb. 28. To date, AIB has engaged more than 150 cities in more than 30 states.

So far, the largest and smallest towns participating are in the Northwest—Echo, Ore., with just a few hundred people in the 5,000 or less population category, and Seattle with 572,600 in the big city category with populations of 500,000 to 1,000,000.

If any of these towns are in your market, now is the time to see you can assist them in their efforts. If you know of a town that should be in the program, there is still time to get them in. For more information, contact AIB at 614-487-1117 or visit www.americainbloom.org.
