Plant Select is a Colorado-based supplier that provides plants designed to thrive in high plains and intermountain regions. Its new website has a plant-find feature where consumers can search for plants based on a variety of characteristics including height, width, flowering season, color, cold hardiness, cultural needs, winter interest, deer resistance and pollinator benefits. This allows consumers to find the right plant to meet their needs or solve problems. A Where-To-Buy feature allows site visitors to choose from retailers, online retailers, landscape professionals, re-wholesalers, wholesale licensed growers and wholesale seed sellers. They can also sort by name or location.

Other notable features include free, downloadable xeriscape designs on the Garden Ideas page, as well as dozens of images showing gardens and plant combinations with detailed captions in the Design Gallery, and a Learn tab with stories on plants, a video series and a map of 80 plant demonstration gardens throughout five Western states. The video series covers a range of topics, including plants for pollinators, ornamental grasses and water-wise groundcovers.

FindPlants.net Provides Consumers With Resources To Find And Identify Plants

FindPlants.net, sponsored by Aerulean Plant Search, contains information on USDA hardiness zones, plant characteristics, landscape uses, seasonal traits and more, allowing users to search out actively grown horticultural plants for landscape use or identify plants unknown to them. Users can select from eleven basic plant types and plant attributes like water, height, flower color and site location to tailor search results to their landscaping needs. Images showing profile, apical, leaf, margin and flower views assist with plant identification.

Aerulean has compiled plant lists from 100 growers located in the western United States and has plans to include more from other regions of the country. Plants in the search are currently available in cultivation by one or more of these growers. Some of them ship plants to every region of the country.
