Sakata Donates Plants And Flowers To Support Salinas Fair

Aspabroc F1 from SakataSakata Seed America, Inc. continued its support for the annual Salinas Valley Fair by donating thousands of show plants from the California Spring Trials for fairground beautification. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the agriculture tradition. The Salinas Valley Fairgrounds in King City, Calif., hosted the 2014 Salinas Valley Fair May 15 to 18,

Sakata also donated its popular Centennial broccoli seed, along with a pair of coveted San Francisco 49ers football tickets, to raise funds in a silent auction event. Funds raised at the silent auction go to The Heritage Foundation.

Sakata supports The Heritage Foundation’s mission to preserve and enrich the heritage of the Salinas Valley Fair and showcase agricultural industries to the community. The Heritage Foundation also offers support to the 4-H and FFA programs, creates agricultural education opportunities, promotes public awareness and supports ongoing projects sponsored by the Salinas Valley Fair in maintaining and improving the current facility to further service the needs of the community.

“Salinas Valley is a hugely important growing region for Sakata and is also the home to one of Sakata’s research stations,” says Matt Linder, senior manager for Sakata Vegetables. “We are pleased to be able to support a community that represents many of our growers and seed distributors in the region.”
