This past July, Allen Satterlee rode in the Tour de Fresh race representing Sakata Seed America. On Dec. 6, Satterlee presented the Galt Elementary School District of California with a brand-new salad bar.
Allen biked roughly 300 miles of challenging California terrain to raise funds for the Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools initiative in conjunction with Cal Giant Foundation’s annual Tour de Fresh event.
“Seeing the kids using the salad bars made my day,” says Allen Satterlee, Customer Service Manager for Vegetable Seed Sales. “It was nice to see the children so receptive to the fruits and vegetables.”
Sakata has participated in the Tour de Fresh ride annually since its inception three years ago, raising more than $6,000 for the cause overall.
“We look forward to the Tour de Fresh ride and fundraising each year. Not only is this extremely important for the future generations of America and the health of our nation, it’s also a great event for the industry and allows us to come together for a common goal,” says Alecia Troy, Senior Marketing Manager.
Sakata will be upping its fundraising efforts for the 2017 ride, with two riders participating for Team Sakata. Cristen Bonz and Morgan Howe-Cobb both work out of Sakata’s Morgan Hill headquarters and hold positions in Logistics and Supply Chain, respectively. They are role models for their office mates, always riding together on lunch breaks and after work, and share a passion for keeping America’s youth healthy and educated about where their food comes from.
