Southeast Conference About Surviving The Drought

Severe droughts, watering bans and plant selection restrictions are, in some cases, as important to growers as energy and labors these days. A day-long session at the Southeast Greenhouse Conference next month will address those issues and how growers can overcome them.

Carole Barton, Chris Butts, Jeff Dwyer, Sherry Loudermilk, Robert Milks, Bodie Pennisi, Dave Self, Forrest Stegelin, Paul Thomas and Marc van Iersel will be among those leading discussions. The session will take place at the Carolina First Center in Greenville, S.C., June 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and it will detail the following:

This year’s Southeast Greenhouse Conference will, as always, be the place to meet with suppliers and share ideas with peers. Nearly 400 booths will be featured and include companies from all facets of the industry.

Fafard, Greenhouse Grower and Today’s Garden Center magazines will also host the seventh annual Southeast Industry Luncheon on June 20. This year, the luncheon is titled “Seeking Clout In Times Of Drought. Greenhouse Grower Editor Delilah Onofrey and Contributing Editor Allan Armitage of the University of Georgia will moderate a discussion on how some growers have made progress despite drought and local watering restrictions.
