Scouting tip: When collecting samples for a diagnostic lab, wrap leaf samples in paper towels then place them in plastic bags to prevent them from drying. Enclose a brief crop history and any recent soil and/or foliar analysis.

A wilting fuchsia or poinsettia may indicate Thielaviopsis root rot. Check the root systems for black discoloration.

Poinsettias that wilt suddenly may be girdled by fungus gnat larvae feeding inside the lower stem. Check for black head capsules that distinguish fungus gnat larvae from worms or other insect larvae.
