Color Spectacular
Breeders gearing up for California Pack Trials give growers a sneak peek into new color options for spring 2009.

Argyranthemum ‘Spring Bouquet’ is a new addition to the Flower Fields line-up and the first to feature multi-color blooms on the same plant. Flowers open pink, fade to yellow and then white as they age.
Geranium ‘Patriot Lavender Blue’ offers a unique lavender-blue bloom color. It is free-branching with leaves that are medium green and a distinct zone pattern.
Pleasant View Gardens
‘Incense’ heliotrope is a well-branched plant with large clusters of fragrant lilac-colored flowers. It is a moderately vigorous plant with great greenhouse performance and flower power.
Dalina Grande dahlias are a large-flowered series selected for their uniformity in plant habit and flowering time. These vigorous basal branching plants are covered with large blooms throughout the summer. Dalina Grande dahlias are also easy to schedule and a quick finish for 6- to 8-inch containers.
Proven Winners
New for 2009 are two new series of basket begonias: the Bellagio series and Mandalay series. Both series are early to bloom with much stronger performance than traditional types of tuberous begonias while performing in higher heat and light.

The Confection series of nemesia is very early flowering with a sweet candy fragrance. This three-color series is ideal for cool-season production with robust plants and strong stems.
Terra Nova Nurseries
Begonia ‘Black Taffeta’ features large, black, star-shaped, textured leaves and pink flowers. This variety has a mounding habit.
Begonia ‘Madame Queen’ is a stunning variety with large, glossy, copper-colored leaves, ruffled and frilled edges and a red reverse side. Prominent light-green veins radiate from the center of the leaves.
