Take a group of ten baskets ready for sale and apply a wetting agent drench to half the pots. Apply the same amount of clear water to the other five pots. Always follow the label directions for the single application drench on the wetting agent bottle.Allow both sets of baskets to dry until wilt is observed and weigh them.
Water both sets of baskets with a hose-and-breaker until water starts to leach out slightly.
Allow the baskets to drain for about 30 minutes and reweigh them. Also pull off the pot and check whether the wetting agent improved water distribution through the root medium.
If the difference in the available water-holding capacity with and without the reapplication of the wetting agent is more than a couple of ounces (60 grams), or the wetting agent improved moisture distribution, it may be worth reapplying the wetting agent to the entire crop.
