The Florida Farm Bureau recently recognized State Rep. Halsey Beshears, a long-time nurseryman, for his contributions to agriculture during the 2016 legislative session with its Legislator of the Year award.
Rep. Halsey Beshears was recognized at a Legislative Luncheon on Oct. 27 during the Florida Farm Bureau’s 75th Annual Meeting at the Caribe Royale Orlando Resort.
“I am truly honored to accept this award on behalf of the farmers and ranchers who are engaged in the legislative process,” said Beshears. “Agriculture is part of me, and I am extremely appreciative to be recognized for doing what I love.”
Rep. Beshears has a background in the nursery business and is a long-time supporter of agriculture. He sponsored one of Florida Farm Bureau’s top legislative priorities, a transportation bill that defines “covered farm vehicles” and exempts growers from statewide commercial driver’s license requirements, in an effort to reduce the regulatory burden of transporting farm produce from the fields to the marketplace.
