Oregon Governor Backs Growers On Tax Proposal

According to a Hillsboro Argus story, the Oregon Association of Nurseries and its members are grateful Gov. Ted Kulongoski signed a bill protecting nurseries against the threat of an unfair new property tax.

“Many of our growers are relieved they won’t be subjected to an additional property tax assessment against hoop houses, which are temporary structures used to protect plants and extend the growing season,” says Jeff Stone, government relations director for the Oregon Association of Nurseries. “When the state Department of Revenue proposed taxing hoop houses as if they were permanent structures, our members said it was unacceptable.”

Oregon’s Department of Revenue proposed new rulemaking earlier this year that would have assessed nurseries for the value of hoop houses.

It is time American taxpayers stand up and just say “No” We are tired of working to serve government, it is supposed to work the other way! Good for you Oregon. Wish we could get South Florida Water Management and the Corp of Engineers to quit draining our water supply and conserve every drop. With 6 feet of annual rainfall, it is a crime that we are put on water restrictions. Would you believe over 2000 people working there and they can’t do the job.

Yes Bruce I do believe it! But you have to consider this… If the Clean water REstoration Act of 2009 passes not only we will have to deal with the South Florida Water Management baffons but will have to deal with the Feds!!!! Under this act ALL surface water in the USA will be under the “protection” of the EPA and the Aremy Corps!!!
You will in effect loose the right to manage your own water. This incudes all surface ponds as well as drainage canals and small streams that run maybe 1-2 days per year. This will affect everyone’s water across the entire country. The Feds will have the right to come on to your property any time they want without prior notice or warrent.
It’s time Americas WAKE UP!!!! You are 100% correct when you say the Governement servres the people not the other way around. WAKE UP AMERICA BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!!!!!
