Rocket Farms: Men Love Orchids

Rocket Farms in Salinas, Calif., recently surveyed 25 fathers from coast-to-coast about whether they would welcome a potted orchid as a gift for Father’s Day. Nearly three-quarters of those surveyed say they would.

“We’re looking to create a trend here,” says Marc Clark, EVP at Rocket Farms. “It’s kind of a ‘Free to be you and me’ thing.’ We have experienced many macho types break out with big smiles when we hand them an orchid. There’s a market here and we are going after it.”

Rocket Farms ships orchids to dads from its greenhouse in a biodegradable box. Its orchids can also be found at most supermarket chains and garden centers throughout the Western United States.
