MasterTag Names Andy Higgins As Its New President

Andy HigginsAndy Higgins was appointed as president of MasterTag, effective January 20, 2015. Higgins brings more than 25 years of relevant industry experience to his new role at MasterTag, a leader in horticultural tagging and merchandising.

Higgins previously served as CEO and president of Ecke Ranch. Rick Hughes remains the owner and CEO of MasterTag, and will continue in his responsibility of leading the company, fulfilling his vision for the company and its future growth.

“We welcome Andy with his wealth of leadership talent, industry knowledge and customer’s perspective,” Hughes says. “We believe Andy will help excel MasterTag to our collective vision for the industry’s future. And I plan to be just as involved as I am today in working with Andy to lead our organization.”

“MasterTag is at the forefront of horticultural tagging and merchandising,” Higgins says. “I am excited to be part of it and am looking forward to assisting the company in realizing its vision of being the premier marketing, design and merchandising solutions provider to the horticulture marketplace. We have the depth, capacity and long-term, family engagement to really understand both our wholesale customer and the end consumer.”

Most recently, Higgins has been involved in consulting with organizations like AgVets, a greenhouse vegetable operation that aims to provide employment and empowerment to returning military veterans, while growing locally sourced, year-round, pesticide-free product on a national level to low- to middle-income consumers. Higgins says he is continuing his work with AgVets in an advisory role, with full support from Hughes.

During his tenure with Ecke Ranch, Higgins directed the operations, assuming many responsibilities including sales, distribution, production, marketing and product development, as well as long-range strategic planning, all contributing to the growth and expansion of Ecke Ranch and its market. Higgins has a B.S. in Horticulture from Cal Poly State University and an MBA from UCLA.
