Plant Sale Helps Power Future of Florida Horticulture Industry

Cultivating a passion for growing and selling plants starts at the ground level. This is the drive behind the annual Scholarship Plant Sale hosted and run by Big Bend Chapter members of the Florida Nursery, Growers, and Landscape Association (FNGLA). Last month, local nurseries gathered together to donate plants for a big sale in Tallahassee.

According to FNGLA, all proceeds from the sale go into a scholarship fund and is awarded to students looking to further their education in the horticulture field. The fund was established to encourage young students to pursue horticulture degrees and enhance the industry.

Perfect Plants, a family-owned and operated online mail-order plant nursery that operates out of North Florida, has donated plants to the FNGLA Scholarship Plant Sale for the past three years.

“It is such a great fund and we are very happy that we can be a part of the Scholarship Plant Sale every year,” says Alex Kantor, Owner of Perfect Plants. “We love our line of work and hope to encourage students to go into the horticulture field.”
