Stuff You’ll Want To Check Out At EIGC

East - IGC logoThe Eastern IGC Show, which takes place in Philadelphia, August 2-4, serves the special interests of independent garden centers in the Eastern United States with a targeted trade show of hand-selected products, regionally relevant keynotes, educational conference sessions and peer-to-peer networking. Trade show, keynotes, and the concert are free.

Stuff You’ll Want To Do

Three Free Keynotes. Each morning before the show floor opens, attendees can get energized with fresh retail strategies proven to power profit. This year brings New York Times Science columnist John Tierney, Washington, DC-based Chef and garden cookbook author Jonathan Bardzik, and Rutgers Gardens Director Bruce Crawford.

EIGC Show Disco-Retro Party & Concert featuring Gloria Gaynor. Tuesday evening’s free party and concert are a fun way to network. Disco Diva Gloria Gaynor takes the stage from 6:45-8:00 p.m., performing her beloved hits, including “I Will Survive.”

EIGC Show Monday Garden Center Tour. Get inspired during the garden center tour, which is held the day before the trade show opens. Onboard moderators reveal the best practices that put these IGC retailers on top in their market in Metro Philadelphia, then see firsthand what makes them so special as you explore each location.

Valley Forge Casino Resort. Guests can enjoy slots and table games, seven on-site dining options, including celebrity chef Luke Palladino’s LP Steak, and the newly renovated spa and fitness center.

New Vendor Zone . The New Vendor Zone showcases exhibitors hand-selected for their particularly creative or innovative offerings not typically seen at other industry trade shows. Attendees will have the opportunity to discover the very latest trendsetting products and vendors that will give their stores the leading edge.

Master Nursery Garden Centers Eastern Regional Member Meeting. Master Nursery Garden Centers will hold its Eastern Regional Member Meeting at EIGC – The Eastern Show for IGCs.

New This Year At EIGC

  1. IGC Retailer Conference Free Sampler. Tuesday morning’s IGC Retailer Conference sessions are free and open to all — no All-Access Pass required to attend in Classroom 1. Join Judy Sharpton and Steve Bailey as they get the conversation started in the industry’s freshest interactive conference format. Bring your toughest challenges for solutions you can take back to your store. No need to RSVP, come as you are, and pull up a seat. Enjoy free coffee and a delicious assortment of donuts.
  2. New Interactive IGC Retailer Conference. This year’s IGC Retailer Conference has a new interactive format that allows for discussion and networking among attendees, who are encouraged to jump in with their ideas that could help the garden retailer sitting next to them. Five tracks to independent garden center profits. Matt Britton, who specializes in selling to millennials, will lead Wednesday sessions, including “Who Are These Creatures We Call ‘Millennials’ & What Do They Want from Us?” “Create a Store Brand that Makes Millennial Consumers Want to Get to Know You” and “Your Garden Center’s Story Is the Key to Connections with Millennials – So Tell It.” Britton’s client list includes Microsoft, Visa, Proctor & Gamble and Nike, and he makes regular appearances on CNBC and in the pages for Forbes, the New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.
  3. Targeted Eastern Focus. Regionally relevant keynote speakers will address topics that are specially focused on the interests of Eastern IGC retailers.
  4.
