Tips On How To Use The New Credit Card Readers [Video]

In September 2015, we invited training expert Kathryn Dager and Epicor’s Senior Product Manager Keith Lam to teach those on the front lines of garden retail how to work the new credit card readers, and just as importantly, how to calm customers who are confronted with a new way to use their credit cards. Lam described the basics of how the readers work, while Dager discussed ways to teach your staff friendly techniques on how to educate customers on the system, and how to gain customer cooperation when readers aren’t working the way they are used to, especially on busy Saturdays.

The new regulations regarding EMV cards went into effect on October 1, and it’s vital for retailers to protect themselves from being held liable for breaches. Compliance can be made simple by having and properly using credit card readers that can handle EMV chips. Cashiers are the key to keeping your store compliant.
