Short Course Off To A Strong Start

Registration opened for the 2007 OFA Short Course on Monday, with choice hotel room blocks selling out in hours. Columbus, Ohio, will be the place to be July 14-17, when 10,000 floriculture industry professionals take advantage of this premier educational event and trade show, which has expanded to 1,440 exhibit spaces featuring 550 companies–a 122-booth increase. One new destination exhibitor is Novalis.

More than 120 educational sessions will appeal to growers, retailers, landscapers, interiorscapers, florists and allied trades. Back by popular demand are lean manufacturing workshops. One thought-provoking idea exchange is the grower town meeting, “Are We Cultivating Our Own Extinction?” Also new is Morning Blend, a place to gather and grab coffee each morning. Grower tours include Bob’s Market & Greenhouses in Mason, W. Va., and McClish’s Plants Plus Greenhouses in Washington Court House, Ohio, and then back to Columbus to visit The Ohio State University’s Horticulture and Crop Science department.
