Bordine Donation Benefits Elementary School

Bordine Nursery recently donated more than 1,200 perennials to Doyle Ryder Elementary School in Flint, Mich., where 40 staff and community volunteers spent Saturday planting them around the school.

Shari Burdt, the school’s instructional media clerk, says she asked Bordine Nursery for some leftover perennials so she could beautify the school grounds. According to MLive.com, Bordine donated 12 truckloads worth of perennials.

"As much as we try to sell things every year, rather than throw them in the dumpster, we want to give them to a worthy cause to beautify our community," says Healther Glenday, Bordine's plant senior manager who oversees the perennial departments at the nursery's four stores.

Bought and planted some "dahlinova Lisa". Question, do you cut off dying flowers or let them just fall off? Thanks
