FNGLA Partners With “Fresh From Florida” Marketing Program

tropicalgardenThe Florida Nursery, Growers and Landscape Association (FNGLA) has joined the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Fresh From Florida membership program on behalf of its more than 800 members. The Fresh From Florida program promotes Florida products through a variety of programs and initiatives. This partnership represents the first time an association has joined the program, extending benefits to all its members.

“Florida agriculture has a more than $100 billion impact on our state’s economy, and horticulture is a big part of that, generating more than $15 billion in annual sales and supporting more than 200,000 jobs,” says Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam H. Putnam. “Through this new and exciting partnership with the Florida Nursery, Growers and Landscape Association, we will continue to strengthen and grow Florida’s nursery and landscape industry.”

The department is launching several new initiatives this spring to promote Florida tropical foliage and landscape plants, including:

  • Forty-three Home Depot garden centers in Southwest Florida are featuring Buy Fresh From Florida point of purchase signage with Florida-grown plants.
  • More than 100 independent garden centers throughout the Midwest and Northeastern United States are featuring the “Buy Fresh From Florida” logo in stores and advertising Florida tropical foliage plants.
  • Magazine advertisements in seven national style and design magazines will feature Florida-grown plants and flowers in the editions sold in Atlanta, Raleigh-Durham and South Carolina markets.

“The Florida Nursery, Growers and Landscape Association is a vibrant network of growers, landscape and retail professionals who work together to shape the future of Florida’s nursery and landscape industry,” says FNGLA CEO and Executive Vice President Ben Bolusky. “This strategic partnership with the department will allow us to drive awareness and sales of Florida-grown foliage and landscape plants by developing joint marketing opportunities using the proven Fresh From Florida brand.”

Through the Fresh From Florida brand, the department works to raise awareness for the high-quality products produced in Florida and promote the sale of Florida commodities. Members of the Fresh From Florida program receive many benefits, including the use of the highly recognized logo.

In addition, members receive point-of-purchase materials, have access to trade leads, receive the Fresh From Florida magazine and industry newsletter, tie-in to supermarket promotions that feature Florida products in newspaper and store circular advertisements and receive a farm sign customized with the member’s business name.
