Sakata Seed America Supports American Heart Association’s Heart And Stroke Walk

Sakata Seed America participated in the American Heart Association’s 8th annual Heart and Stroke Walk to raise life-saving funds and awareness for heart disease and stroke.

More than 600 people gathered for the Northern Central Coast Heart and Stroke Walk, which took place Sept. 13 at the Custom House Plaza in Monterey, Calif. More than $60,000 was raised by 61 teams. The funds will benefit research, advocacy, outreach and education.

Sakata took home top team and individual honors, with Jamie Kitz of Sakata raising the most funds of any participant ($2,225), and Team Sakata raising the most funds of any team, ($4,980).

“Corporate giving is one important way that Sakata works to enrich the communities where we conduct business, says Dave Armstrong, president-CEO of Sakata Seed America. “Through financial contributions, in-kind donations, employee engagement and organizational leadership, our goals are to assist those who are working to better their communities and to educate individuals on the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, to which our products contribute.”

In addition to its support of the Heart Walk, Sakata also sponsored the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Luncheon held in May 2014, and will be sponsoring and participating in the AHA’s National Eating Healthy Day on Wednesday, November 5, 2014. On this day, Americans are encouraged to commit to healthier eating. Sakata events centered on healthy eating and living are also being planned.
