If they need a little help selecting what they want, consumers can take advantage of The Sill’s design services to custom-select plants and containers based on a customer’s design style, lifestyle and budget. And to ensure success with their plant selections, consumers can schedule on-site plant care and pay online for a flat rate of $45 per hour. A member of the company’s plant specialist team comes to the customer’s apartment, ready to water, prune, naturally clean and de-bug their plants, and re-pot if necessary.

The Sill offers commercial services, as well, for retail stores, restaurants, showrooms or offices. The team creates a custom plant design to fit each brand and budget, offering design, installation and plant care services.

Taking The Guesswork Out Of Plant Care

With its catchy marketing, like “No Green Thumb Required,” The Sill successfully takes the intimidation factor out of buying and caring for plants. Its website offers straightforward, basic plant care information, teaching consumers exactly how to determine things like how much light, soil, water and fertilizer to give plants, and how much is too much. And they can always call or hire The Sill to do it for them, if it gets too overwhelming. The Sill is accessible and approachable, which is appealing to first-time or novice plant owners.

“The Sill removes the complexities of finding, buying and caring for plants,” said Blevens and Blank in their Birchbox interview. “We’ve curated a selection of easy-care plants — long-life, tolerant of low light, dry air and busy schedules — and hand pot them in an eclectic mix of containers.
