Water Treatment Education Opportunity

Are you interested in water conservation, managing diseases and algae in water, or using recycled or reclaimed water?  Two January events the Water Education Alliance is hosting will focus on onsite recycling and treatment of irrigation water, which combine expert advice with practical grower tours.

The first meeting is January 21, and it will be a full-day workshop at Van Vugt Greenhouses in Pompton Plains, N.J.

A two-day conference January 28-29 will be held at the Center for Applied Horticulture Research at Altman Plants in Vista, Calif. The California conference features new research on water treatment from the University of California and University of Florida.  A tour of two nurseries on day one and four nurseries on day two will highlight how leading California growers are managing water restrictions and capturing runoff.

The goal of both events is to encourage and enable greenhouse and nursery growers to recycle irrigation water and adopt best management practices for water conservation, in order to reduce water demand.

Growers will learn about diagnosing and treating diseases, algae and salt problems in recycled and recycled water. Pesticide CEUs will be available for both programs.
