BASF Announces New Insecticide And Fungicide

BASF Professional Turf & Ornamentals has announced the launch of Mozart TR fungicide and Beethoven TR miticide/insecticide. Both new products deliver active ingredients using Total Release (TR) technology.

BASF’s Total Release technology enables growers to save on labor costs and offers excellent plant safety and flexible reentry times. Packaged in an aerosol can, growers simply place the products in their greenhouse, press the release button and leave the area.

Mozart TR fungicide, with the active ingredient fludioxonil, controls a broad-spectrum of greenhouse diseases, including alternaria, botrytis, downy mildew, powdery mildew and rust. One six-ounce can covers 4,500 square feet of a greenhouse. In growing conditions with high disease pressure, growers can increase the number of cans to cover every 1,500 square feet of the affected area.

Beethoven TR miticide/insecticide, with the active ingredient etoxazole, controls mites, including the two-spotted spider mite, and suppresses whiteflies. One two-ounce can covers up to 3,000 square feet.

Mozart TR and Beethoven TR will be available for sale October 1, 2010 and labeled for use in commercial greenhouses on bedding plants, cut flowers, flowering hanging baskets, potted flowering plants, foliage and ornamentals. Mozart TR is also labeled for use on perennials.
