Pageant Intrinsic Offers Plant Health Beyond Disease Control

Pageant Intrinsic Fungicide

Fungal diseases often rob budding beauties of their vigor and vitality, while environmental stresses, like cold, heat and drought, deplete their marketability. These situations can damage growers’ reputations and decrease potential revenues. Growers can better manage plant quality risks by treating ornamental crops with Pageant Intrinsic brand fungicide.
Pageant Intrinsic combines active ingredients boscalid and pyraclostrobin to provide superior broad-spectrum disease control.

In addition to excellent disease control, research has shown that pyraclostrobin also provides plant health benefits for agricultural crops and turfgrass. These benefits include enhanced plant tolerance to stress and increased efficiency of plant processes. Pageant Intrinsic is the only fungicide with both disease control and plant health language on its label.

Plant Health Benefits — In The Lab And Field

For more than five years, BASF worked side-by-side with expert growers to research and develop Pageant Intrinsic applications programs. The resulting plant protection programs help growers to better guard against disease. They also prepare plants to tolerate stressors that are present on greenhouse grounds and in shipping trucks, while helping maintain their attractiveness for retail shelves.

New research demonstrates that pyraclostrobin is equally beneficial for ornamentals by enhancing a plant’s use of nitrogen for more efficient photosynthesis.

In field research at Michigan and Connecticut operations, plants received a preventative disease application of Pageant Intrinsic before undergoing a stress event. Plants were rated on plant quality, number of leaves dropped and fresh weight to determine the healthiness of each plant.

Growers reported less stressed plants during temperature extremes and drought conditions when treated with Pageant Intrinsic compared to untreated plants. Treated plants also recovered more quickly after shipping and had healthier fresh weights and fewer damaged leaves.

Hardier Petunias, Geraniums, Impatiens And Pansies

Flowering plants, such as petunias, geraniums, impatiens and pansies, revealed a range of positive plant health benefits when treated with Pageant Intrinsic as part of a disease control program. Pageant Intrinsic enhanced many physiological processes. For example:

• Petunias and geraniums showed improved recovery from cold temperature extremes and drought.

• Impatiens sustained cold temperature extremes and showed improved recovery responses.

• Pansies showed improved recovery following drought.

Pageant Intrinsic controls more key diseases than any other fungicide available today. Competitive brands may be effective on specific fungal pathogens, but Pageant Intrinsic performs against all four classes of ornamental fungi. When applied as the foundational fungicide in a plant protection program, growers experience added plant health benefits, as well.
