Grow-Tech Introduces New Media Plug, Joins Dümmen Orange Team

GrowTech CatEye PlugGrow-Tech LLC, a designer and manufacturer of stabilized growing media products, is making waves this week with the launch of a new plug and an announcement that it is joining forces with Dümmen Orange.

Grow-Tech’s newest product, the CatEyePlug, is designed for easy transplanting of tissue culture starts and pre-rooted cuttings. The eye of the plug allows for the precise and rapid placement of small and delicate plant material, such as tissue culture, micro cuttings, and other hard-to-start plants.

The plug’s unique eye-shaped dibble makes it possible to open the plug with one hand. Once squeezed, the CatEyePlug opens and creates the perfect spot for the placement of a young plant. When you let go of the plug, it closes and holds the tissue culture plant in position.

“Grow-Tech works with several companies that produce tissue culture plants,” says Edwin Dijkshoorn, CEO of Grow-Tech. “Following the successful launch of our ZenPlug for large tissue culture roots structures, the CatEyePlug is designed for small, delicate root systems. We are pleased to add the CatEyePlug to our line of products designed specifically to meet the needs of growers using tissue culture.”

The stabilized growing media and the unique way of opening the plug makes it easy to place the tissue culture plant instead of forcing it into the rooting media. It increases efficiencies and improves propagation yields.

Like the FlexiPlug and ZenPlug, the CatEyePlug provides young plants with the optimal environment for root growth: excellent water-holding capacity, optimal aeration, and even dry down.

Grow-Tech will be showcasing the CatEyePlug at Cultivate’17 in Columbus, OH, July 15-18. Attendees can see it at booth #2955. For more information, go to Grow-tech.com.

Grow-Tech to Join Dümmen Orange

Grow-Tech also recently announced that it is joining the family of businesses of Dümmen Orange, a move that reflects the growing importance of scale in the plug business, and the opportunity to serve the consolidating young plant growers around the world.

A growing group of customers at Dümmen Orange (young plant growers) identified innovative rooting techniques as the main driver to improve the quality and value of their products and services.

Grow-Tech stands to benefit from Dümmen Orange’s expertise and innovation pipeline and will be better positioned to serve its customers. Dümmen Orange welcomes Grow-Tech’s products and market know-how and its up-to date understanding of customer needs, especially in the North American market. Grow-Tech will continue as an independent company serving its growing customer base.

“We are very excited to be part of this team,” Dijkshoorn says. “Dümmen Orange has the broadest offering of starting material in the floricultural market, and its ‘Grower Solutions’ business supports growers around the world to become more successful in the greenhouse. We are empowered to drive our growth and lead our expansion.”

“We are proud to welcome Grow-Tech to our family of businesses,” says Biense Visser, CEO of Dümmen Orange. “Dümmen Orange respects and values all existing customer relations and has asked the directors of Grow-Tech to press ahead.”

With the addition of Grow-Tech, Dümmen Orange will further expand its business in the plug market where it is already represented with the EU-based activities of Omni Solutions and Quick Plug.
