Heartland Growers Hosting Bedding Plant Conference

Growers, distributors and other greenhouse industry folks are invited to attend the Indiana Flower Growers Association’s (IFGA) Spring Bedding Plant Conference on Wednesday, Feb. 16. Heartland Growers is hosting the event in Westfield, Ind.

Greenhouse and nursery owners can bring their employees to the conference, where they can receive Pesticide Applicator Recertification (PARP) credit for attending the educational sessions . Additionally, the early registration deadline has been extended to Jan. 30.


Below is the conference’s educational program:

9:00 to 10:00 AM: Registration

12:45 to 1:15 PM: Fertilizer cost comparison, and tips to save on costs. Neil Mattson, Cornell University

1:15 to 1:45 PM:  Benefits of heating a greenhouse with unit heaters. Neil Johnston and Randy Mich, Modine Manufacturing

1:45 to 2:15 PM: Chronic low-level ethylene exposure: Identifying and solving this problem in your greenhouse. Neil Mattson, Cornell University

2:15 to 3:00 PM: Update on new pest control materials and biological controls. Ray Cloyd, Kansas State University

3:00 to 4:00 PM: Scouting for environmental and insect problems in the greenhouse / Heartland Tour. Roberto Lopez, Purdue University and Raymond Cloyd, Kansas State University
