Echinacea ‘Supreme Cantaloupe’ USPPAF
Blooms of Bressingham

‘Cantaloupe’ is absolutely the color of a ripe cantaloupe — there's nothing else like it. This first-year flowering perennial features double anemone, non-fading blooms that last from summer into fall. Young flowers look like a brown-eyed, double gerbera. As the flowers expand, they take on more of an echinacea look. A heavy bloomer with strong color saturation and large flowers, branching is superior to many coneflowers in the market. ‘Supreme Cantaloupe’ has strong, non-floppy stems and reaches a flowering height of 29 inches, foliage height of 26 inches and width of 15 inches. This full-sun, drought-tolerant variety is hardy to Zones 4 to 9 and comes to Blooms of Bressingham from Terra Nova Nurseries, known for its world-class echinacea breeding.

Colors: The color of a ripe cantaloupe
Uses: In mass, mixed beds or borders and a great cut flower. Drought-tolerant and deer-resistant.
Plant Habit: Full, well-branched and compact
Crop Time: From plug to gallon, approximately 12 to 14 weeks; from plug to 4-inch pot is 6 to 8 weeks

Helenium ‘Short 'n' Sassy’
Skagit Gardens

Bright flowers glow with sunny color on this compact plant. ‘Short 'n' Sassy’ is a shorter version of the stately border perennial. It starts blooming up to two weeks earlier than other heleniums and flowers continuously until late fall. New blossoms open above spent blooms, so the plant has a fresh, tidy look even without deadheading. Attractive to bees and butterflies, ‘Short ’n’ Sassy’ makes an excellent cut flower. Not fussy about soil types except the extremes, it’s easy to grow in a sunny location.

Colors: Bright orange and gold flowers, rich green foliage
Uses: Beds, borders and even containers
Plant Habit: Short and compact
Crop Time: Gallon from 72-cell liner: 8 to 10 weeks from spring transplant, 24 to 26 weeks from fall transplant

Uses: Shady beds, borders and containers
Plant Habit: Compact with flowers facing outward
