Redenta’s Garden Shops has two locations in the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area. It has embraced its small size at both locations, finding ways to inspire customers while it keeps its inventory tight and easy to shop.

Redenta's Store Front
Until recently, a shade structure obscured the front of the store. The staff pulled that down and added this attractive awning to open up the front view of the store.

Customer In Raised Vegetable Beds
Despite its small size, Redenta's values the power of having a demonstration area. Growing vegetables has been a strong trend in the customer base for some years, so Redenta's has these raised beds, which are paired with small container garden versions of the same plant.

A More Formal Demo Garden
Customers often want to know what will do well in the local weather at different times of the year. These garden beds offer the staff a way to show customers how plants will perform.

Customer Shopping Trees And Shrubs
Although Redenta's nurtures a rustic urban vibe, you won't find many plants on the ground, not even shrubs.

Info Center With A Laptop
This mini info center is just inside the front door. The desk is suspended from the wall with two cords, and small stools are pulled up so a small group can look at the provided literature or pre-selected websites together.

The staff spotted a similarly constructed bench at AmericasMart a couple years ago, and created a few display benches that have worked well for them.

Plant Yard Under The Oaks
Other than a tiny main building and a small poly house, the only shade to help customers fight the heat at Redenta's are these large oaks.

Silver Trailer Offers Multiple Retail Uses
Last year, staff members used this trailer to make Redenta's more accessible to Fort Worth residents. It set up in a popular street that's filled with pedestrian traffic. While sales were adequate, it was a drain on the small store's limited labor. This year, the trailer will act as a classroom within the store.
I visited the retailer’s Arlington, TX, location at the end of February. Owner Ruth Kinler says her two locations have very different customer bases. The Dallas store is much more urban, while the Arlington store is more suburban. Although the Arlington store is more suburban, her customers enjoy the urban vibe they find there.
