Practical Software Solutions Increases Accessibility, Efficiency Of Its Grower Vertical System

Practical Software Grower VerticalPractical Software Solutions, a provider of integrated software systems to the horticulture industry, recently announced that its “Grower Vertical” management system will be available on the newest web-native Sage software platform beginning this summer.

Practical Software Solutions will demonstrate Grower Vertical on the new web-native platform in Booth No. 1726 at Cultivate’16 in Columbus, OH, from July 10-12.

Practical Software Solutions developed Grower Vertical in 2006, when Metrolina Greenhouses of Huntersville, NC, approached the company to help create horticulture-specific functionality for its Sage ERP system.

The newest Sage platform is a robust and adaptable technology platform with mobile options. The solution requires fewer add-ons than other business management solutions, reducing installation cost and IT issues.
Grower Vertical provides a customizable, scalable, and full-featured enterprise management system designed for the specific needs of the horticulture industry.

Vince Stamey, CEO of Practical Software Solutions, says adding Grower Vertical functionality to the latest Sage platform was a logical choice.

“We are excited to have Grower Vertical available for a fully web-native platform,” Stamey says. “Now the horticulture industry will have another integrated solution that will help operate their entire business, not just the greenhouse.”

Vertical Farming Looks to Go Mainstream

The University of the District of Columbia is the nation’s only urban land-grant university, so it was a particularly appropriate setting for the Association of Vertical Farming (AVF) to host the AVF Summit 2017 on September 22. The summit was a mix of education, advocacy, and policy discussion about urban agriculture — vertical farming in particular — targeted at finding ways to broaden its adoption in cities around the country and around the world. You’ve probably heard quite a bit in recent months about vertical farming — systems for growing food in stacked layers in completely controlled environments, applying inputs such as light, water, and fertilizer in precise amounts. While there’s some use of these systems in greenhouse settings, in many cases, urban farmers are repurposing abandoned buildings or even shipping containers. Match the availability of these facilities in most large urban areas with big cities’ limited access to fresh, […]

Argos Software Custom-Builds Enterprise Software System…

If your standard, off-the-shelf accounting software program and Excel inventory sheets just aren’t cutting it anymore, maybe it’s time to look at a computer software program developed for commercial growers. Here are some software programs designed to handle the variables and intricacies that are unique to commercial growers’ businesses. Argos Software Argos Software offers a full line of enterprise software that is specific to the grower industry. “There are issues with plants that don’t occur in other industries, so there is a need for software that is flexible enough in order to accomplish that,” says sales manager René Huurman. “The first thing we do is a needs analysis of the grower. Identify the grower’s processes, how he goes about doing what he does. There is no greenhouse or nursery operation exactly the same. The software is flexible enough to adapt to the grower’s needs.” Huurman says based on the grower’s […]
