Top 100 Grower Hitting The Auction Block

Higgenbotham Auctioneers International (HAI) has been retained to liquidate Polk Nursery. HAI auctioned the real estate last March. The liquidation auction will take place at 10 a.m., Friday, March 18 at 361 Denton Ave., Auburndale, Fla.

William Schulz started Polk Nursery in 1916 just after he graduated from the University of Florida. Polk Nursery started out as a 58-acre fernery that produced asparagus fern for the northern market, and it eventually grew to become a 200-acre nursery. Schulz’s son, Ken, joined the company in 1945. The 2-gallon containerized California Rose bush was Polk’s most outstanding development, gaining them world acclaim.
