CALIBRACHOA

The Cabarets from Ball FloraPlant are highly programmable and flower early under short days for early-season sales and are also ideal to extend sales into autumn. Plants fill in fast and full with good branching and foliage stays dark green at higher pH levels.

Cohen is offering the Celebration calibrachoa series bred by Westhoff. Twenty colors make up this comprehensive line.

‘Colorburst Melon’ is a striking addition to this calibrachoa line bred by Sakata and offered through Paul Ecke Ranch. It’s early to flower, has a mounding habit and great garden performance. Try mixing it with ‘Colorburst Chocolate’ for a striking combo.

Bred by Danziger and offered by GroLink, Noa calibrachoas will flower under short days and need only 10 hours of light, which allows growers to get their product to market first and get more turns in the spring. Flowers open first thing in the morning for better retail sales.

CHRYSANTHEMUM

GroLink has added the bold ‘Rhinos Orange’ to its Belgian Mum collection. While a 10-inch pot will retail for about $8, a basket will bring in $25. Belgian Mums’ mounding habit make them ideal for baskets.

While coleus has not been a traditional basket plant, coleus ‘Burgundy Wedding Train’ fits with its small leaves and trailing habit. Produced by Paul Ecke Ranch, it offers great performance throughout the summer and nice habit and form overall.

Ball Seed’s ShowStopper impatiens are large and vigorous and make great baskets. Two-inch blooms are available in 16 colors and a mixture.

Bred by Danziger and offered through Paul Ecke Ranch, ‘Calitunia Purple’ is a cross between petunia and calibrachoa. Plants are less sensitive to yellowing and leaves do not burn up as easily when conditions get dry.

PanAmerican Seed’s Easy Wave petunias flower under short days for early-season sales and easy-to-produce baskets. Plants tolerate both heat and cooler conditions and offer season-long performance. Available in eight colors and five mixes.

Sakata’s Explorer petunias bloom under short days and feature a full plant flowering habit. Flowers have a waxy, water-repellent surface that makes them more tolerant of rain. Plants require minimal care and stay vibrant throughout the season.

Goldsmith’s Ramblin’ petunias offer production ease and a mounding/trailing habit. Economical and profitable to grow, Ramblin’ is not as daylength sensitive as other trailing petunias and uses fewer plant growth regulators to finish. It can be grown like any other grandiflora petunia.

Rapide petunias from Floranova are mounded and branching to make a premium pack, container or basket. They will flower under short days and also offer impressive summer performance in heat and humidity.

Offered by Fischer and bred by Goldsmith, ‘Whispers Bright Pink’ grows into full, beautiful baskets. The grower-friendly Whispers series flowers under daylengths of 12 hours or less. Vegetative petunias are heavy feeders and require 250-300 ppm nitrogen at each irrigation.

SCAEVOLA

Cohen offers 10 varieties of scaevola in shades of blue and white. ‘Brilliant’ is one of the best sellers. Plants are suitable for pots, baskets, windowboxes and groundcover. Take care when pinching to keep at least one bud, otherwise plants can become “blind.”

STRAWBERRY

‘Pretty In Pink’ from Ball Seed is an attractive novelty basket item with bright green-leaved, everbearing plants that produce large, pink flowers and sweet, mid-size, deep red berries. This strawberry plant is hardy to USDA Zone 5 and is simply irresistible.

COMBINATIONS

Double Delight from Proven Winners mixes two petunias, ‘Surfinia Sky Blue’ and ‘Supertunia Mini Rose Veined.’ The result is beautiful light blue with smaller pink accents.

Fides has come up with a yellow combo that’s ideal for fall or Easter. Angelart nemesia and Margarita osteospermum are combined in shades of Lemon.

Fragrant Cloud is a beautiful blue combination basket from Proven Winners. Components include Supertunia petunias Mini Blue Veined and Royal Velvet with verbena ‘Superbena Large Lilac Blue.’

Good Karma is a striking combination from Proven Winners in high-contrast primary colors. Components include osteospermum ‘Lemon Symphony,’ petunia ‘Surfinia Baby Red’ and verbena ‘Superbena Dark Blue.’

For Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day, Fides has created a pink combo. Components include New Guinea impatiens ‘Tamarinda Purple Bicolor,’ geranium ‘Summer Idols Pink’ and osteospermum ‘Margarita Pink Bicolor.’ The main advantage is that all three varieties require little plant growth regulator or none at all.

For special celebrations, like Memorial Day and Independence Day, Fides has created a patriotic combination in red, white and blue. Components include geranium ‘Summer Idols Red,’ a white ivy geranium and petunia ‘Fortunia Purple Picotee.’ All plants could be grown together from the beginning for better blending and pinching is normally not necessary.

To whom it may concern, We had been one of your top flower growers and salers in our area. My health became bad and we had to quit our green house busines. It was called the Family cornerstone Nursery. We now own a campground which needs some flowers, flowers, flowers. I am hoping I could buy some of the end of your crop at a discount price. I don’t know if you work that way or not. I loved the Liraca showers, begonias and lobellia and Bacopa White. I don’t have my license for growing any more but I have my campground liscense. If there is any thing left that you might have I could you please let me know. Thank you so much and it would be used for my campground only. Diana Krotzer I did have a ID there with you don’t have that anymore. I also order through Parks Seed. Thank you for your time. 503-728-4407 or cell 503-369-3864 Thank you ever so much
