Biopots Develops POP Program

Biopots, a line of biodegradable pots from Bellan International, has introduced a marketing program for growers supplying retailers.

The point-of-purchase (POP) and marketing components include:

  • Publicity materials for local/regional media, that the retailer releases to the media.
  • Reproducible graphic elements and text for retailers’ newsletters, ads, flyers, Web sites, etc.
  • In-store POP materials

The Biopots line consists of popular sizes for the professional grower and nature-friendly containers for the home gardener. Produced in China, the pots are made from fibrous wastes of renewable and sustainable crops, such as bamboo fiber, straw and rice husks.

The entire program is under the direction of Bellan’s North American Marketing Manager Gary McColeman in Toronto. "This plan and program have been exposed to a significant number of the major growers and industry consultants," he says. "We have gotten only positive responses. The Biopots and our go-to-market programs have been on view at all of these shows during 2007: OFA, Farwest, Horti Fair and Canton Fair (in China). The reception has encouraged us to move ahead at an ambitious pace. Our production facilities in China have ample capacity and are ready for orders."
