Dickman Farms Earns VeriFlora Certification

Dickman Farms is the first grower in the state of New York to receive the VeriFlora certified sustainably grown designation for growing floral products in an environmentally and socially responsible manner. These floral products include vegetative liners, finished annuals, perennials, herbs, ground covers, hardy mums and hanging baskets.

Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) awarded the certification to Dickman Farms. SCS specializes in third-party certification of environmental performance and sustainability claims. During this process, SCS pays particular attention to the company’s carbon footprint (fertilizer usage, fuel, recycling, etc.). The certification also takes into account how Dickman Farms interacts with its employees and community.

"Sustainability is taking a holistic approach to operating a business. It is a journey, not a destination," says Dave Dickman, president of Dickman Farms.

Dickman Farms is a fourth-generation family-owned business and an exclusive supplier to Ball Horticultural Company, growing more than 1,500 items for Ball in its 365,000 square foot production facility. Dickman’s wholesale division ships more than 9.5 million plants annually to other growers throughout the United States. It also serves consumers with a retail area in Auburn, N.Y.
