GGS has designed, manufactured, and installed commercial greenhouse structures since 1979. GGS works with customers to ensure growers maximize crop value via best-in-class structural facilities, heating, cooling, ventilation, benches, irrigation, environmental controls and many other greenhouse supplies.

“Illumitex could not be more excited to partner with a company that has the integrity, reputation and proven track record that GGS has,” says Eric Anderson, vice president of business development at Illumitex. “GGS has been an industry leader in the greenhouse and plant growth market for many years.”

Illumitex has transformed traditional LED design with the creation of LED lighting that emits uniform and precise illumination directly from the source to the plant canopy. With die-level optical integration, inefficient secondary optics to control the light are unnecessary, opening the world of horticulture lighting to more versatile and energy efficient options.

“We know that LED is the future of horticultural lighting, whether it is sole-sourced or supplemental, and we have seen everything on the market. Nothing we have seen can compare to the performance and plant growth expertise that Illumitex is offering to the plant growth industry,” says Gerry Harrison, GGS Vice President.

Illumitex also announced in April that it had concluded its B1 round of funding, strengthening the company’s cash position by $8.2 million.

The funding will accelerate the company’s aggressive growth driven by its rapid-fire development of LED lighting products in the horticultural, architectural, industrial and beauty sectors. Existing investors NEA, Morgan Creek Capital, Mousse Partners, Apex Venture Partners and Syngenta Ventures participated in the round, along with new investor Arrow Realty.

“This investment demonstrates the commitment of our valued partners to ensure we can continue to revolutionize the LED industry,” says Illumitex Chief Financial Officer Carl Gallagher. “The future of Illumitex is bright — LED bright.”

Led by CEO Chris Hammelef, Illumitex designs energy-efficient luminaires powered by breakthrough LED technology that incorporates fundamental physics principles to maximize light extraction at the source, delivering more usable light to the intended target while consuming less energy.

The company’s horticulture lights offer directed, consistent light that meets plants’ specific photosynthetic and photomorphogenic needs, while maximizing production and reducing energy costs.
