Simply Beautiful Website Gets Makeover

Ball Horticultural Co. recently redesigned its Simply Beautiful website at The website was developed to serve as a great gardening resource for consumers.

“The redesigned Simply Beautiful site is an excellent portal for home gardeners of all skill levels,” says Bill Calkins, business manager for independent garden centers for Ball. “In addition to timely garden tips, they can access specific variety information, combination recipes and create a customized shopping list to take to their favorite independent garden center. It’s a complete package that benefits both gardeners and retailers.”

Currently, 18,000 consumers receive the quarterly Simply Beautiful e-newsletter, which features inspirational topics such as the newest varieties, plants that offer the best garden performance and planting information for all types of gardeners.

Highlights of the new website include:

• An improved shopping list feature that allows visitors to create customized plant lists of products, along with information about local garden centers that sell those varieties, if they are available. Plus, the shopping list is automatically saved for future use.

• A revamped Container Gardening section that will inspire consumers with easy-to-understand diagrams and listings of plants to use in containers.

• A Garden Tips section that is updated with seasonal information. Plus all of the past tips are archived for future reference.

“In addition to gathering information before going to the store, today’s consumer often visits the Web for additional product information after making a purchase,” Calkins says. “This site is referenced on every piece of in-store marketing from Simply Beautiful pots and tags to bench cards, bench tape and vertical signs.”
