Young’s Plant Farm Founder Gene Young Dies

Young's Plant FarmGene Young, founder of Young’s Plant Farm of Auburn, Ala., passed away on October 3. Young founded Young’s Plant Farm in 1961 and was instrumental in the early development of the industry.

“Gene Young had an incredible passion for quality in every aspect of his life,” a statement from Young’s Plant Farm reads. “Whether it was the plants, the greenhouses or the work performed by each individual employee, quality was imperative. His greatest passion however, was for his family and his ambition to provide them with a legacy through Young’s Plant Farm.”

Young’s Plant Farm is number 37 on Greenhouse Grower’s 2013 Top 100 Growers list.

Born November 24, 1937, Young is survived by his wife Avis and his four sons, Rob, Greg, Burt and Cale. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
