Planting dates: Starting May 1 for cool-tolerant crops, starting May 15 for all other crops. Planting completed by May 29

Number/kind of entries: 750 entries total. 307 field, 29 hanging baskets, 348 container and 66 shade. Entries are primarily annuals/tender perennials, although some hardy perennials are included, as well. All entries are treated as annuals in our trial (i.e. not overwintered)

Weather conditions during the trials: During planting and establishment period, weather was ideal, with cool nights and adequate amounts of rain. Beginning in mid-June through end of August, conditions were unusually hot and dry. It was necessary to water weekly (or more) by means of overhead irrigation. September has brought rainfall and cooler temps.
