Location: Knoxville, Tenn. with a second planting site in Jackson, Tenn. Having two sites allows us to evaluate varieties in the Eastern and Western climates of our state.

Planting dates: Knoxville varieties were planted between April 24 and May 25. Jackson varieties were planted between April 16 and May 30.

Number/kind of entries: We trial both annual and perennial varieties of ornamental plants. This year, we trialed approximately 250 annuals and 25 perennials.

Weather conditions: Weather in both Knoxville and Jackson was exceptionally hot during the early summer (May and June) and we also had less rainfall than normal. Temperatures and rainfall were more normal during July, August and September. Overall, temperatures and rainfall for both sites were higher than historical averages for the period as a whole.
