2015 North Carolina (Raleigh, N.C.) University Field Trials Results

Cooler spring temperatures led into slightly warmer than normal summer temperatures at the J.C. Raulston Arboretum this year, which trialed 300 entries of annuals and 40 entries of perennials. New this year was the installation of a pollinator garden. The new garden attracted a multitude of pollinators and people, and was a popular spot for photos.

Trial Manager Notes

We had three groups vote on their garden favorite. Here is each group’s top pick.

A new variety that stood out was the Hot Pak Marigold Series, which took our heat and humidity and stayed looking fresh. It was a true test, especially since 2015 was the most humid summer we’ve had in 20 years! Hot Pak is a powerhouse of flowers. From the time they were planted through the fall, they have been a mass of flowers. It is a true winner for our area and a great series for the southeast.
