ASCFG Recognizes Gay Smith

Gay Smith, technical consulting manager for Chrysal USA, was presented the Allan M. Armitage Leadership Award last month by the Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers (ASCFG) at its 2010 national conference in Tulsa, Okla.
 
Gay has more than 30 years of experience in the cut flower industry. She has worked at all levels, including wholesale businesses, importers and bouquet makers. She’s been with Chrysal for 10 years.

The Armitage Leadership Award recognizes those in the floral industry who consistently strive to foster the goals of ASCFG and the specialty cut flower industry. Gay has consistently attended national meetings and trade shows, she writes for several floral trade publications and is considered one of the country’s experts on cut flower post-harvest handling.

John Dole of North Carolina State University presented the award. Dole has worked with Gay on several research projects.
