Punch Superbells Calibrachoas: 2010 Medal Of Excellence Nominee

Proven Winners has created a new subseries within Superbells calibrachoas called Punch. Flowers have a dark center or eye that contrasts with the outer edge. Blackberry Punch’s two-tone bloom is a rich velvet black throat on deep grape petals. Growth habit is slightly looser than other Superbells but better than Tequila Sunrise. Coralberry Punch has a rich reddish black throat on peachy, coral-red petals.

Both plants offer high pH tolerance and the same disease resistance and performance as other Superbells. Plants prefer full sun and reach a height of 4-6 inches with a spread of 12-18 inches.

About The Medal Of Excellence Awards

Industry’s Choice is determined by our well-rounded panel of industry experts. They visit the California Spring Trials, review a summary of introductions provided by Greenhouse Grower Editor Delilah Onofrey, and name their top five introductions, which we publish in the June issue. Where there is common ground, the finalists emerge. Each panelist votes for just one of the finalists to become the Industry’s Choice winner. Even the panelists will not know the outcome until Monday night, July 12, at our Evening of Excellence reception.
